As of September 2023, the UK government was spending approximately £8 million per day to accommodate asylum seekers in hotels. With around 35,000 individuals housed in such accommodations, this translates to an average cost of approximately £228 per person per night.

In addition to accommodation expenses, the UK government incurs further costs related to public services for migrants receiving benefits. An analysis by the Centre for Migration Control revealed that over one million migrants claiming benefits resulted in an additional £3.5 billion expenditure on services such as housing, healthcare, education, and public transportation. Specifically, migrants earning less than £25,000 impose a net cost of £3,000 per person annually, while those with average (£38,000) and high (£54,000 or more) incomes have a positive impact on public finances.

These figures highlight the substantial financial implications associated with accommodating and supporting migrants in the UK.
